Zontian of the Year: 2004 Roni Broeffle presentsthe award to 2005 Alice Manns

ZONTA ROSE AWARDSBeginning in 2000, the Zonta Club of Grants Pass has sought nominations from community businesses, non-profit organizations and government agencies. One dozen of the nominated individuals are surprised on March 8th each year with a Zonta Rose Award. It’s a SECRET! It is our intention to locate the “unsung S/Heroes” in our community whose efforts exceed the norm in employment or service to the community. Recipients may be women or men doing paid or volunteer work. An attempt is made to tie the award to the the United Nations theme for each year, for example, the Year of the Elder, or the Year of the Mountains. On March 8th, International Women’s Day, a Zonta member delivers a certificate and Zonta yellow rose to each of the twelve recipients. Locating and delivering the surprise award can be challenging. Members have climbed mountains in snow storms, and driven to the far ends of the county to find their s/hero. Nominations are due to the Zonta Club of Grants Pass, OR, P O Box 1615, Grants Pass, OR 97528 on or before February 10th each year. If you elect to nominate someone, please remember to keep the secret.

with ease.  He is dedicated to the work and thrives on the challenges.   KAREN CASKEY: (nominated by Denise Olson)          Karen has a passion to help people who have gotten caught up in addiction
