MEMBER RESPONSIBILITIES  Club Attendance Requirements: At the option of the club, or to comply with District attendance requirements, any member who is absent from all Club meetings for three (3) consecutive months, without excuse deemed adequate in the opinion of the Board, may be notified that membership may be forfeited. Should the absences continue following this notice, the Board may notify the member that membership is forfeited. Attendance requirements can be met by attending local Board meetings, a meeting of another Zonta Club, or by attending designated committee or team meetings.  THE ZONTA PIN: The Zonta Pin should be worn on the left side lapel and should be worn to all Zonta functions. The Fellowship Committee is charged with the responsibility of collecting a pin “fine” from members who do not wear a Zonta pin to functions.

THE ZONTA EMBLEM: [Zonta Z] Indian symbol for a ray of light or sunshine or a flash of radiance. [Zonta upside down “u”] Indian symbol for the phrase “to stand with” or “to band together for a purpose.” [Zonta “u” shape] Indian symbol for “to carry together.” [ shape ] Indian symbol representing shelter. Conveys the idea that Zonta is an indoor rather than an outdoor organization. [square shape] The square typifies “on the square” and the basic meaning of Zonta, a Lokota Sioux Indian word meaning “honest and trustworthy.”

ZONTA CODE OF ETHICS* To honor my work and consider it an opportunity for service.* To increase the measure of that service by consistent self-improvement.* To remember always that success is my goal and that a good conscience must accompany me all the way toward it.* To be ambitious for the development of the business in which I am employed and for the improvement of its standards.* To be convinced that unscrupulous means of gaining material advantage can bring nothing but failure to me and harm to others.* To have toward all men and women the same attitude of fairness and square dealing that I have toward members of the Zonta Club.* to keep ever before me the best of all creeds: Whatsoever ye would that men should do unto you, do ye even so unto them. ZONTA BLESSING: We thank Thee, Father, for this food, and for Thy gracious, loving care. Help us to honor Zonta’s Code, to be in all things fair and square. And grant our prayer for lasting peace, for every nation everywhere. Amen. OBJECTS OF ZONTA INTERNATIONAL* To provide service at the global and local levels.* To improve the legal, political, economic, education, health, and professional status of women.* To work for the advancement of understanding, goodwill, and peace through a world fellowship of executives in business and the professions.* to promote justice and universal respect for human rights and fundamental freedoms.* To be united internationally to foster high ethical standards, to implement service programs, and to provide mutual support and fellowship for members who serve their communities, their nations, and the universe.
